Limitless Luxe Recipes

"You know I like a good cocktail, and keep a pretty well-stocked cocktail cabinet, but when WoodWick® set me the challenge to create one inspired by one of their Trilogy candles, Blooming Orchard, there were a few extra ingredients I needed to find."

"Blooming Orchard’s fragrance notes read pretty much like they’d be on a cocktail list anyway. Its top fragrance is its Yuzu Blooms candle fragrance, while the mid layer is Melon & Pink Quartz, and the base is Magnolia. With these three fragrances in mind, I did a little experimentation to find the right mix."

"Yuzu juice was an obvious choice to represent Yuzu Blooms, super citrussy - like a mix between lemon and orange. To mix, I chose watermelon - not only because it complements the Yuzu but also makes the cocktail this great pink colour. To represent Magnolia, I chose some mint - something that mellows out the fruitiness of the other flavours, just as the magnolia does to these candle fragrances."

"My version of a ‘Blooming Orchard’ cocktail is really refreshing - a little sour, but also sweet. Fancy a go at making it yourself? Here’s how."

INGREDIENTS

  • Yuzu juice
  • Small watermelon
  • Mint
  • Vodka (optional)
  • Ice
  • Lemon (to garnish)

METHOD

  1. Cut up your watermelon and put in a blender. It’s such a perfect colour match for the Melon & Pink Quartz candle.

  2. Put ice in a tall glass and add a single shot of vodka, or the alcohol of your choice (or keep it virgin!)

  3. Add a single measure (35ml) of yuzu juice to the glass.

  4. Pour the watermelon juice into the glass. It should sit on top of the yuzu.

  1. Grind some mint leaves up with a pestle and mortar - this will really release the flavour of the mint. Add a small amount of this ground mint into the glass.

  2. Using a peeler, peel a small length of lemon skin for a garnish, and add to the top of your glass.

"And that’s it. Give your cocktail a stir to mix before drinking, but I like to serve it layered, just like the Trilogy candle from WoodWick®."
